"Two winters later, still bone dry."

Ocean-front house — salt air was eating the chimney faster than we could keep up. Three courses above the roofline had spalled through, the crown was cracked in six places. Diego's team did a proper assessment, rebuilt the upper 4 feet in salt-rated Type S mortar, sealed with vapor-permeable waterproofer, added a stainless cap sized for the flue.

We remodeled our El Segundo craftsman and needed the fireplace brought to code and made the centerpiece of the new great room. Aaron drew three design options in the first walk-through, sourced reclaimed brick matching the 1922 original, rebuilt the firebox in refractory brick, tucked in a new gas insert with hidden supply lines.
